I’m kicking off February with a new weekly feature: Friday Favorites. This week’s feature is The Verses App.

We’re emphasizing the importance of engaging the Word this year in our church. We realized that many people in our church who are “churched” (grew up in church) have never been taught the importance of daily Scripture engagement or they have never been taught how to engage God’s Word daily. So we decided to change that. The plan we are using is designed for everyone: new believer, “churchy” believer, mature believer, and even little kids.

An important aspect of this plan is the weekly Scripture memory portion. If I’m being honest, it has stretched me and in a good way. I would memorize a Scripture over a month or two months, not one week!

If you have ever follow a Scripture memory plan, you know some of these verses are harder to memorize then others. I’ve always used a 3×5 card to memorize things, but let’s face it, I don’t carry my 3×5 cards around.

However, I do carry my phone everywhere I go. So if I’m at a red light, early to a meeting, stuck in traffic, or in line at Dunkin’ Donuts, I try to pull out my phone and look at the memory verse. Not only do I learn God’s Word, but I’m not aimlessly scrolling through social media. 

I want to share this incredible app that has been helpful for me and I know it will be helpful for you when it comes to memorizing Scripture. The app uses interactive ways to learn God’s Word that are both helpful and challenging.
