Stand on the Gospel

Day 9 brings us to a prayer asking God to help us stand on the power of the Gospel. 1 Corinthians 15:1-2:

1Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

Many Christians believe the Gospel is just for salvation when Scripturally speaking, the gospel is our hope every day. The Gospel not only saves us, but it sustains us. This prayer today is for God to help us and remind us to stand on the power of the Gospel.

J.D. Greear gives an incredible quote that explains this verse:

“The gospel has done its work in us when we crave God more than we crave everything else in life.”

Greear also shares a Gospel prayer that is intended to draw our hearts to our need for Jesus every day.

“In Christ, there is nothing I can do that would make You love me more, and nothing I have done that makes You love me less.” “Your presence and approval are all I need for everlasting joy.” “As You have been to me, so I will be to others.” “As I pray, I’ll measure Your compassion by the cross and Your power by the resurrection.”
