The first week of our 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting focused on God and His Character. It was a time to see the beauty of who God is and to place our awe and adoration in Him.

Day seven leads us to a prayer of thanksgiving that He alone is God and there is no one like him. The Scripture is 2 Kings 19:19

So now, O LORD our God, save us, please, from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, O LORD, are God alone.”

We believe that God is God and no one else. He is God alone. But practically speaking, we make other things a god in our life. God desires to be the only God to us, the one who we find full satisfaction and joy in. Anything else is an idol. If we worship fame, money, relationships, or status, we lump them in with God. We can’t then claim that God is God alone.

God is God alone and he is before all things. Anything that comes before is an idol and makes a terrible god.
