What a year it has been! It is hard to believe that we are coming up on our second birthday. To look back and see what God has done over the last year is truly remarkable. Julie and I are always amazed at how God has brought different people of different backgrounds together and created a growing church family. To that, we say, “To God be the Glory”!

As we talked about on Sunday, celebrating what God has done and is doing should be a frequent occurrence in our lives. We can easily keep moving ahead in life without even pausing to reflect on what God has done. So that is what we are going to do as a church: stop and reflect.

As a society, a way of showing celebration and praise is through a gift. Whether a birthday, Christmas, anniversary, or a special occasion, we give gifts as part of the celebration. This is why we are kicking off 2017 with our Tribute Offering.

Tribute is defined as “a gift, testimonial, compliment, or the like, given as a due or in acknowledgment of gratitude or esteem”. The Tribute Offering is just a small way for us as a church to thank God for what he has done and to help propel us into 2017 as we seek to “Help All People Live a Jesus-Centered Life”.

Our goal is to raise $3500 between now and February 5th, – our Second Birthday Celebration. The money will go towards needed equipment for our music and media department, new signs and indoor banners, office equipment, t-shirts and promotional items and needed items for hospitality, KidLife, and our Student Ministry. Each dollar raised will go towards our continual effort to be a church that is welcoming to all people and can effectively minister to them.

The Tribute Offering is not a tithe, but rather giving above and beyond your tithe the amount God has placed on your heart. Giving towards the Tribute Offering will require much faith from many of us, but that is exactly what God finds pleasure in. Hebrews 11:6 states, “And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.” A step of faith – whether big or small – is important in our continual pursuit of Jesus. If we believe that God exists for our good and his glory, then we know we must take each path that he calls us to. Pleasing God comes from a heart that has put its hope and faith in Him. So I ask you, “What good is faith if we don’t use it”?

So, together as one body, let’s praise God and give him the glory for what he has done and let that push us into a year that exceeds what we have seen God do. Let’s celebrate the goodness of God! Let’s celebrate his glory! And let’s celebrate His grace and His continual demonstration of his unconditional love towards us through Jesus Christ. To God be the Glory!

By His Grace,

Pastor Matt
